Following the inauguration of the Talent Academy at Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday, Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA and former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that the focus of the main initiative is to improve Indian Football. While speaking to the presenter, the legendary football coach said that they want to help India to educate their youth. "We want to improve it (Indian football) and help India to educate their youth and that's what is needed," Wenger said.

Former Arsenal coach Wenger, currently serving as FIFA's chief of global football development, did not give any time frame when India would start producing "great players" but made it known that without proper grassroots development, the country will remain as it is now. "Our project is to identify talent in India, to put the best talent together, give them a good coaching programme, give them a good education and a good level of competition and make them great players," Wenger said.

FIFA's chief of Global Football Development Arsene Wenger is all set to visit India from November 19 to 23, AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey has said. The former Arsenal manager had met with Chaubey and AIFF secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran in August in Australia and discussed about the setting up of a central academy in the country. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Chaubey thanked FIFA president Gianni Infantino for his keen interest in Indian football and confirmed Wenger's India visit dates.
