Arsenal would be 'very confident' of signing £120k-a-week star at the Emirates
Arsenal are confident of ‘striking a deal’ with Leicester to sign Youri Tielemans if they head to the negotiations table, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.
But at this current moment, Jacobs doesn’t believe that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing the £120,000 per-week star to the Emirates Stadium.
Tielemans has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the King Power Stadium, which has led to intense speculation surrounding his Foxes future.
Arsenal are seemingly at the front of the queue for Tielemans’ signature, with The Sun reporting earlier this month that the north Londoners had ‘stepped up their interest’ and were ‘confident’ of sealing a £30m deal.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Arsenal have been in ‘internal discussions’ with the midfielder since January, although that was before they missed out on qualifying for the Champions League.
And Jacobs, who previously told GiveMeSport that the capital club have ‘agreed personal terms’ with Tielemans, reckons the Gunners know they can complete a deal to sign the ex-Monaco star, but Arteta remains unsure.
When asked for an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of the 25-year-old, he told GIVEMESPORT: “If they don’t sign him, it’s not because Tielemans doesn’t want to join, it’s not because the deal can’t be agreed with Leicester, I think Arsenal are very confident if they do come to the table and finally make a bid that they will be able to strike a deal with Leicester, it’s down to Arteta’s desire, and at the moment, he doesn’t want to move.”
While Tielemans would add extra quality to Arsenal’s midfielder, having registered 24 goals and 24 assists in his three-and-a-half years at Leicester, signing him in this window doesn’t appear a must for
