Arsenal told to make 'amazing addition' amid Leicester City contract uncertainty

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes his former club should sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans when the transfer window opens in the summer.

The Belgian maestro has just one year left on his current contract with the Foxes, meaning the club may be forced to sell him rather than lose him for nothing next year. He has been linked with a number of top clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus and the Gunners.

While City would prefer to tie him down to a new deal rather than sell, transfer speculation is likely to increase greatly in the coming months given the 24-year-old's supreme talents on the ball.

Tielemans would slot right into many of the biggest teams in England and Europe, and Parlour believes the midfielder would be a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta's lineup. The ex-England international also thinks he would make an "excellent long-term replacement" for one-time captain Granit Xhaka.

"I really like Youri Tielemans at Leicester City," he told the Design Museum, via The Star. "I think he’s a great young player and I expect he will be in big demand this summer, especially if he’s actively wanting to move elsewhere. He only has a year left on his contract and maybe Leicester City will want to cash in now rather than risk losing him on a free next year.

"There’s always questions about how long Xhaka will stay at Arsenal and I think Tielemans would be an excellent long-term replacement. He’s great on the ball and he can pick a killer pass. Tielemans would be an amazing addition to practically any midfield in the Premier League."
