Arsenal target Tielemans transfer as 'next Vardy' makes his mark for Leicester City

Good morning and welcome to our Leicester City coverage on Sunday, April 17. Here's a round-up of the latest headlines as the Foxes prepare to face Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Arsenal have reportedly met with the agent of Youri Tielemans as speculation over the Leicester City midfielder’s future continues to rage.

The Foxes’ FA Cup match-winner could leave the King Power Stadium, either this summer for a fee or next summer for free when his contract expires. Talks have been held over a new City deal, but to no avail.

Reports in February claimed Tielemans had decided against extending his stay at Leicester, although Brendan Rodgers insisted that was not the case. Last month, Tielemans insisted he was open to staying at City, but not had not made a decision about his future.

Leicester City return to Premier League action against Newcastle United on Sunday following their fabulous European victory over PSV Eindhoven.

The Foxes scored two late goals, through James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira, to come from behind and win 2-1 at the home of the Dutch giants. There is far less riding on the clash with Newcastle, who are virtually safe after pulling clear of the drop zone under Eddie Howe. Due to their three games in hand on West Ham United and Wolves, City could still push for a European place via the league, but their current position of ninth looks to be a more likely finish.

However, the remaining Premier League games do offer Brendan Rodgers’ players the chance to play themselves into his plans for the Europa Conference League semi-final against Jose Mourinho’s Roma later this month, and hopefully the final in the Albanian capital of Tirana against either Feyenoord or Marseille.
