Arsenal's Paulo Dybala signing requires Edu to complete early transfer for Mikel Arteta first

Arsenal should accelerate their pursuit for Paulo Dybala, but only on certain conditions. The most important of these being that he should only sign for the club if another striker is also brought in alongside him.

According to Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb, The Gunners have held talks with Dybala's representatives to sign him as a free agent this summer. The Argentine has yet to sign a new deal with Juventus, despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Dybala is certainly a quality player that would improve Arsenal’s side. However, he should not be Edu’s sole forward signing ahead of the next Premier League season.

The 28-year-old has shown throughout the years the qualities he possesses at Juventus. But he is turning 29-year-old and has yet to feature in the Premier League, meaning tasking him with leading the line at Arsenal could prove difficult.

However, having him as the second option to another striker minimalises the risk of putting all the pressure on Dybala to score the goals. This is a requirement set out by Arteta for his forwards next season, as Arsenal have lacked goals from the striker position so far in this campaign.

Arsenal will be in desperate need of two new strikers in the summer transfer window, with both Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah's ' days looking increasingly numbered. Both players’ contracts are set to expire at the end of the season and they have been linked with a move away from the club.
