Arsenal receive huge injury boost ahead of Premier League title race run-in with Man City

Arsenal have received a significant injury boost following Jurrien Timber's return to training.

Timber has been participating in some group activities with the senior squad but hasn't fully returned to training yet, according to football.london. The Dutch international continues to work independently and is gradually rejoining the squad ahead of his side's title race run-in with Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta confirmed last week that the £38million summer signing was making progress on his return from a knee injury.

"I really hope so, he's doing really well," Arteta said when asked if Timber would be back before the end of the season. "He's been around some players on the pitch and we are going to start to do some bits with us in the next week or so.

"Then we need to see how that evolves, his confidence levels, his fitness levels and hopefully then the answer is 'yes'."

Arsenal have switched to an inverted right-sided player in Ben White with Jakub Kiwior on the left playing the more traditional full-back role. This could suit Timber when he returns to action having impressed on both sides during pre-season.

Timber is expected to be the sixth player to return from injury, provided there are no further complications. Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira have already rejoined the squad, and there's hope that Takehiro Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey and Oleksandr Zinchenko will also be back in action soon.

City face Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on March 31 in what could be a crucial game in the Premier League title race.
