Arsenal now 'discussing terms' with £125k-a-week winger at the Emirates

Arsenal have made extending Bukayo Saka‘s contract a “priority”, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners academy graduate has become one of the club’s key players over the last three seasons, but the 21-year-old has entered the last two years of his Emirates Stadium terms.

Saka has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise miserable couple of seasons in north London, although there are concerns over his future.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have already made the England international their number one priority to replace Raheem Sterling, who recently joined Chelsea.

Despite the interest, the report claims that Arsenal are desperate to ‘accelerate their attempts’ to convince Saka to commit his future to the north London club.

Mikel Arteta recently answered questions about Saka’s contract situation and said it’s a ‘matter of time‘ before the youngster will sign fresh terms, with a report from The Sun earlier this year stating that the Gunners are prepared to quadruple his current wages and pay him £125,000 per-week.

The Arsenal boss is on the verge of making his fifth summer signing in Oleksandr Zinchenko, but Romano reckons that Saka’s future remains top of his priority list.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They are happy with the Saka contract extension as a priority because they are discussing with Saka over a new contract and want to get it done as soon as possible.”

The arrival of Gabriel Jesus could soon change that, but Saka has comfortably been the club’s best and most important player over the last couple of seasons.

In 131 appearances for his boyhood club, he’s already chipped in with 23 goals and 29 assists, with 19 of those goal contributions in the 2021-2022 campaign, which proved his best to date
