Arsenal have just handed Man City a hidden Premier League title race advantage

They celebrated wildly at the Emirates after 310 gruelling minutes against Porto ended in a huge Champions League penalty shoot-out win, firing Arsenal into the quarter-finals for the first time since 2010.

Over at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola regularly praises his side's consistency in Europe - this year the seventh in a row that they have reached the last eight, and 11th in succession in the knockout stages. Arsenal are back to contend for the biggest trophies under Mikel Arteta, but their celebrations were definitely a side starved of European success recently.

City, on the other hand, have won two European trophies in the last 12 months, plus the Club World Cup, and have been in the semi-finals for the last three years. There is a tantalising prospect of an Arsenal-City quarter-final or semi-final in Friday's draw as well, which would do little to reduce the nerves of fans of both clubs when it came to their European campaigns and also the Premier League title race.

Arsenal currently lead City by a point in the Premier League, level with Liverpool with ten games to go. City welcome Arteta's men to the Etihad next up in the league on Easter Sunday, with the result huge for both sides. As City are behind the leaders on points and also goal difference, and Liverpool also ahead on both metrics, there has been plenty of scrutinisation of the fixture list for the final ten games.
