Arsenal handed huge triple transfer boost with re-signing of Serge Gnabry taking shape

Arsenal’s path to signing Serge Gnabry for a second time has cleared after multiple reports delivered promising updates for the Gunners.

The winger, 26, has developed into one of Europe’s premier attackers since returning to Germany. Serge Gnabry moved to Arsenal in 2011, though failed to make his mark in English football either at the Emirates or out on loan.

He returned to his homeland with Werder Bremen in 2016 before quickly earning a move to Bayern a year later. In the subsequent five years, Gnabry plundered 64 goals and 40 assists in just 174 outings in Munich.

He remains one of Bayern’s most potent threats going forward. However, his contract status has sparked talk of a potential exit this summer.

His current deal expires in 2023 and according to Fabrizio Romano, talks over an extension have stalled.

Writing in his column for CaughtOffside, Romano stated Bayern have been in negotiations with Gnabry dating all the way back to October.

Their latest offering of around €10m net per season (roughly £163,000-a-week) has not been accepted by Gnabry.

Whether his stance regarding that offer will change, only time will tell. However, German outlet Bild previously reported Gnabry was seeking around £12.5m-per-year (approx. £240,000-a-week).

That may be difficult for Arsenal to muster, but the same rings true for Bayern.

Indeed, Romano added the German giants have ‘no plans’ to go beyond their latest offer of around £163,000-a-week.

With Gnabry seemingly in limbo as his contract talks stall, all eyes are on who could swoop.

Arsenal and Real Madrid are the two clubs to have drawn links thus far, though the Champions League winners might not be as interested as first thought.
