Arsenal forward breaks silence after red card decision against Wolves

Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli revealed to feeling upset after receiving a red card in the 1-0 Premier League win over Wolves on Thursday night.

The Gunners were in search of a win since their Boxing Day win against Norwich City to climb up to the top-five.

Mikel Arteta's side then broke the deadlock on 25 minutes through Gabriel Magalhaes who poked the ball into the empty net before Martinelli was sent off in the 69th minute.

"If Oliver wanted to caution Martinelli for the first offence he should have stopped the game as the offence occurred."

The Brazilian took to Twitter after the full-time whistle: "I’m upset because it’s difficult to accept that as a red card.

"But I am proud the team fought to keep the result and the win."

The Gunners boss also came out in defence of the 20-year-old post-match: "I’ve never seen that.

"I’ve been 18 years in this country and I’ve never seen something like it.

"We made it even more difficult for ourselves playing with 10 men. We suffered a lot in the last 10 minutes. I’ve never seen something like it.
