Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta facing selection dilemma ahead of Wolves clash

Mikel Arteta is facing a selection headache - albeit a nice one - ahead of Arsenal's Premier League showdown with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday night.

With players back, Arteta must decide whether to make any changes to the side that beat Brentford 2-1 at the weekend.

Gabriel Martinelli, who picked up a red card in the reverse fixture against Wolves in controversial fashion, will be available for selection after serving a one-game suspension.

Elsewhere, Takehiro Tomiyasu is also set to be back in contention for a place in the starting XI after recovering from a calf problem.

However, the biggest decision centres around the Brazilian Martinelli, who prior to his sending off, had arguably been Arsenal's best player through the festive period.

The 20-year-old had kept Emile Smith-Rowe out of the team following his fine form of late.

Having said that, Smith-Rowe was on the scoresheet as Arsenal picked up another three points by seeing off Brentford at the Emirates on Saturday.

The 21-year-old's confidence will be high after netting his 10th goal of the campaign in all competitions - achieving a feat set by Cesc Fabregas in the 2009/10 season, becoming the first academy player to do so.

Following the win over the Bees, Arteta said : "Yes, but the performances on the pitch as well for the way they train.

"We play once a week, it’s tough to see players training the right way and not being able to give them minutes on the weekend."

It will be interesting to see what team the Spaniard will select for the clash against Bruno Lage's men.
