Arsenal figure reportedly on Crawley Town managerial radar

Crawley have been without a manager since relieving John Yems of his duties at the beginning of May and they’re now eyeing a potential deal for Kevin Betsy to take over as their next boss, as reported by Sky Sports.

The club have managed to seal a mid-table finish in League Two this campaign but amid off-field allegations over their previous boss, the side decided to part ways with Yems and head in a different direction without him.

The fourth tier outfit have been calm and collected in their pursuit of a new leader going forward and have looked at a number of potential candidates. They will now though turn to Premier League club Arsenal in their pursuit of a new manager.

That’s because next up on their list of potential bosses is Kevin Betsy, who currently works with the Gunners’ Under-23 team. The coach has done some solid work with the club’s younger players and, prior to the role at the Emirates Stadium, has also aided the England youth sides.

He’s held roles with England Under-16, 17s and 18s too – meaning he has plenty of experience of working with younger talent and getting the best from some high potential players.

He could be a worthwhile gamble if they can land him then. The former player may not have much experience in an official managerial capacity when it comes to first-teams but his work with younger sides has hinted at a manager that knows what he is doing and could potentially lead Crawley in the right direction.

No deal has been reached yet but it certainly looks as though Betsy is their next port of call in their manager hunt.

The Verdict

Kevin Betsy could be a really shrewd appointment for Crawley if they manage to prise him away from Arsenal.
