Arsenal: Edu could be 'working on' behind-the-scenes deal at the Emirates

Arsenal technical director Edu is trying to be more smart with the club’s transfer business after missing out on Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez, says Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Gunners’ pursuit of both players was very public, and Taylor thinksEdu is now going about things differently and could be working on something at this very moment, though nothing appears to be imminent.

Edu has not ruled out more signings at the Emirates, suggesting that Arsenal could act if the right opportunity presents itself.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Brazilian said: “I think we have to be prepared for every situation. We still feel the transfer window is open and the most important thing is to be prepared for everything, every scenario, because opportunities can happen.

So far this summer, the Gunners have already signed Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner.

However, it appears that Mikel Arteta’s business may not be finished there.

Taylor has told GIVEMESPORT that Arsenal are not currently close to signing anyone, but he would not be surprised if Edu was working on a deal now.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Express journalist said: “I think Edu is being very smart in what he’s doing because as we saw with Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez, it was very public their interest and, in the end, they ended up missing out on both players.

“So I wouldn’t be surprised if Edu was working on something, although from what we understand, there’s nothing too far down the line at the moment.”

One player who the Gunners are currently being linked with is Juventus’ Arthur Melo.

The north London club reportedly wanted to sign him in January and appear to be interested in him once again.
