Arsenal and sensible behaviour aren’t the best match made in heaven, especially when it comes to transfers. The unpredictability of the transfer window as an Arsenal fan can leave us feeling all manner of emotions from frustrated to angry to overjoyed.

It would be better if we could go into the window knowing exactly what we need and assured that those areas will be addressed. Perhaps that will be the case this summer with Arsenal in serious need of upgrading their striker and central midfield options.

The priority targets remain Gabriel Jesus and Youri Tielemans. However, a signing made last season in combination with some recent links should highlight how these may not be the marquee additions of the summer.

Arsenal needed to strengthen the full-back area, central midfield and attacking midfield areas last year and the Gunners did. Takehiro Tomiyasu, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard all arrived.

However, few felt that the big money would go towards a centre-half but that is exactly what occurred. Arsenal paid Brighton in the region of £50 million to land Ben White.

The club already had Gabriel Magalhaes, Pablo Mari, Rob Holding and William Saliba.
