Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka confirms Champions League "dream" amid Liverpool transfer links

Bukayo Saka has made no secret of his desire to play regular Champions League football as Liverpool circle for the versatile Arsenal star.

The gifted 20-year-old has never featured in Europe's premier club competition as the Gunners have not qualified for it since 2016.

Nonetheless, he has a stellar record on the continental stage with four goals and nine assists in 17 Europa League fixtures.

Saka has cemented himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet since graduating from the academy ranks and he has 10 goals involvements in 22 Premier League games this season.

The next natural step in the Englishman's career would be for him to test himself in the Champions League, which Arsenal are pushing to qualify for this season.

Should the Gunners fail to finish in the top four, however, it would raise questions over Saka's future at the Emirates, especially as he will have two years remaining on his contract this summer.

In December, the winger was reportedly interested in joining Liverpool, who have been crowned European champions six times and are all but certain to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is equally keen on the player, whose recent comments may have caught the attention of Anfield chiefs.

"I think the Champions League creates so many special nights and it’s a dream for me still to experience one of them and hopefully many more of them," Saka told Sky Sports.

The former Hale End starlet also discussed his own personal progression in recent months, having already matched his career-best tally of seven goals in a season.
