Armed men raid Morrisons store with crowbars before 'fleeing in Fiat 500'

Two men raided a Morrisons store with crowbars before looting cash and cigarettes. Greater Manchester Police says the pair reportedly entered the store on Manchester Road in Astley, Wigan, armed with crowbars before demanding to be taken to a back office.

The pair stole a 'significant sum of money' from the office area, before taking more cash from the till. They also stole cigarettes from behind the till before leaving the store, GMP says.

It is believed the offenders fled the scene in a white Fiat 500. Thankfully, on one was injured during the ordeal.

GMP has today (April 18) issued a CCTV image of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place last Friday, April 12. Detectives believe the men pictured could help with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Harris, from GMP’s Wigan district, said: "Thankfully no one was injured during this incident, but a significant sum of money was taken and we have a zero tolerance for these sort of crimes. I appreciate the CCTV isn't the clearest, but if anyone recognises the pair in the image, please do get in touch.

"If anyone has any information, please get in touch with us. This includes any relevant CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage. You can contact us on 101, via gmp.police.uk, or by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
