Leaders Niger United of Minna made a bold statement on Tuesday by beating rivals, Safety Shooters 26-23 in the ongoing Ardova Handball Premier League in Lagos.The tension-soaked game had fans at the edge of their seats throughout the tie.

Speaking after the win, Niger United coach, Yekini Adebayo said that the match was an explosive one, which proved his players were ready to emerge winners at the end of the league on Saturday.

He stated that his boys showed technical ability and played to his instructions. He noted that the games was fierce but his boys did enough to emerge victorious.

The former international said his players will approach the last four game the seriousness and focus, stating that his team would take each game as they come.

He said, “It was a win that came at the end of a fiercely contested tie. Both teams were focused and gave but we played with a lot of grit and technical ability to win the game.

“The last four games will be crucial but the win against Safety Shooters shows that my players are ready to do themselves, the technical crew and Niger State proud. With God, we will emerge league champions,” he added.
In other games in the men’s category, Lagos Seasiders beat Police Machine 31-22, while Benue Buffaloes defeated De:Defenders 32-28.

In the female category, Bayelsa Queens lost to Safety Babes 18-26, Seasider Babes fell to Defender Babes 21-36, while Benue Queens beat Bendel Dynamos 23-19.
