Arbroath boss Dick Campbell: Hamilton Accies clash is a '12-pointer'

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell says tonight's colossal Championship clash with Hamilton Acccies is a '12-pointer.'

The veteran gaffer brings his Red Lichties to South Lanarkshire looking for a win that would see them leapfrog John Rankin's side at the foot of the table.

But he reckons it is such a huge game, victory for either side would be worth more than just a solitary victory.

He told The Courier : “This game is massive. You could argue it’s a 12-pointer because there’s so much at stake.

“If we can win it will send a clear message over what Arbroath is all about.

“I’m really pleased with the attitude and spirit of my team right now. We are developing into a ‘don’t give up’ side.

“That’s crucial when you are fighting down there at the bottom.

“I’ve always had players who are willing to dig in for a battle at Arbroath but that dipped a bit earlier in the season. Now it’s back."

Tickets for tonight's clash, which is also live on BBC Scotland, have been slashed to just £5 for all fans across the board.

And Campbell expects to see plenty of supporters make the trip down from Angus to cheer on his side.

He added: "Our fans have an enormous part to play. They’ve backed us all season, home and away.

“We had over 2,000 against Raith and Partick at home and took 650 away fans to Cove.

“Cove’s biggest crowd of the season came against Arbroath. That shows you how well our players are backed.”

It could be another tight encounter, with both sides enjoying 1-0 home wins against each other in the previous meetings this season.

Tonight's match kicks-off at 7.45pm.
