Apoplectic Andy Murray annihilates BBC reporter for 'awful' take over Scotland's greatest ever sportsperson

Apoplectic Andy Murray has eviscerated a BBC reporter who claimed the greatest Scottish sportsperson is "tarnishing his legacy" by continuing to play.

The triple Grand Slam champion is smarting at a piece by a journalist for the state broadcaster that while saluted his incredible achievements, questioned his decision to carry on at the age of 36 and with a metal hip. Murray suffered a first-round exit at the Australian Open and another early knockout at the South of France Open this week.

But Murray simply wasn't having the take by the BBC journo – and took to X to vent his spleen. Clearly hurting, the twice former Wimbledon and US Open conquerer insisted he WON'T quit and rapped: "Tarnishing my legacy? Do me a favour. I’m in a terrible moment right now I’ll give you that. Most people would quit and give up in my situation right now.

"But I’m not most people and my mind works differently. I won’t quit. I will keep fighting and working to produce the performances I know I’m capable of." Murray's takedown was applauded by many on social media. One said: "What the **** does he know?" Another added: "What an awful take."
