Antrim's Orlaith Prenter crowned player of the month
Antrim forward Orlaith Prenter has been named the Croke Park/LGFA Player of the month award for May.
The 23-year-old attacker, from the St Ergnats Moneyglass club, has been in stunning form this year and played a key role as Antrim claimed a historic TG4 Ulster Intermediate Championship title.
Prenter scored six points against Monaghan in the round-robin phase in early May, a result that secured a safe passage to the Ulster decider for the Saffrons.
But there was more to come with Antrim going on to make history by landing the provincial crown for the first time in the county's history, Prenter scoring 1-08 in a 2-18 to 1-13 victory over Tyrone.
This was the latest piece of silverware for a rising Antrim outfit, following on from 2022 TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship glory, and Lidl National League Division 4 success last April.
Prenter scored eight points and landed the Player of the Match award in April as Antrim defeated Leitrim to win the Division 4 title and clinch promotion.
Last Sunday, Prenter was at her brilliant best once again, scoring 1-07 against Westmeath in the opening round of the 2023 TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship.
Antrim’s next Championship outing is against Longford at the Erin’s Own club in Cargin on Sunday 25 June.
