'I just want to play' - Manchester United player sends transfer message to Erik ten Hag

Young goalkeeper Ondrej Mastny has revealed that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer in pursuit of regular first-team football after joining Dutch club SC Telstar on trial.

The 21-year-old joined United's academy back in 2018 and has failed to make a single first-team appearance for the club. He left Old Trafford on loan in the latter stages of the January transfer window earlier this year, joining Portadown.

The Czech made ten appearances for the Irish club, keeping two clean sheets. His stint in Northern Ireland was where almost all of his football came from in 2022/23, as he made just one appearance for United's Under-21s in the Premier League 2.

The youngster is still under contract this summer, meaning United have not had the opportunity to release him. But with his chances of making it into the first-team so incredibly slim, they could allow him to depart via a different method in this transfer window.

And he has been offered a potential route out of Old Trafford by Telstar, who play in the second tier of Dutch football. They have taken Mastny on trial and he has hinted that he hopes it will prove to be a successful period, highlighting his desire to earn regular opportunities.

"I have still got one more year of a contract there [at United]," Mastny told NH Nieuws. "I want to play men's football and this would be a brilliant chance.

"I have been to Portadown but I want to progress somewhere else. I think here in Holland, in the second division, there is a good level of football, so I'll try my best and hopefully I'll get some game time somewhere.
