Antony transfer to Manchester United could spell bad news for four players

Although we are less than a week into the summer transfer window, there is already a feeling of impatience and restlessness beginning to emerge among Manchester United's supporters on social media.

Liverpool have beaten them to the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica, Manchester City have completed the signing Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland and Tottenham are edging closer to completing the £25million signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton, which would take their tally of new summer recruits to three. United's Twitter account, however, has remained silent, certainly on the transfer front.

The club, however, have ambitions of joining all the transfer fun sooner rather than later. Manager Erik ten Hag, alongside John Murtough and Richard Arnold, is working hard behind the scenes to strengthen the squad, even if the current silence seems deafening.

The silence, though, has not been helped by the sheer pace at which Liverpool, City and Tottenham have started the window. They have been ruthless in their decision-making, particularly Liverpool, who, from the outside, appeared to wrap up the deal for Nunez in the blink of an eye.

At Old Trafford, however, the opening of the transfer window has been greeted with a more laidback approach, with a view to going up through the gears as it develops. As every United supporter knows, full focus at the moment is on Frenkie de Jong.

United remain in talks with Barcelona about the prospect of reaching an agreement over a transfer fee, but you get the feeling that this deal has the potential to run and run, even if the Reds will have to seek alternative solutions if it rumbles on
