Antonio Conte's Tottenham were limited to 35 percent of possession at Anfield on Saturday night, but it was a show of tactical flexibility, not an inability to be on the front foot, that saw them depart with a share of the spoils.
The north Londoners left Liverpool with a point after Luis Diaz's equaliser cancelled out Son Heung-min's opener. The stalemate was a blow for the Reds' title ambitions and Tottenham's top four hopes, but the fallout has seen the visitors criticised for their approach.
Jurgen Klopp led those who have taken issue with the way in which they set-up and played at Anfield, although he did concede that is a "personal problem". The German has long asked Liverpool to play an attacking game, even when they weren't challenging for silverware. He has been vocal against, what would be perceived as, negative or defensive tactics in the past.
Klopp said after the Tottenham draw: "I am sorry, I am the wrong person to ask about [Spurs' defending] because I don't like this kind of football. But that is my personal problem. I think they are world-class and I think they should do more for the game.
"It's a game against Liverpool, they have 36 per cent possession. But that is my problem. I cannot coach it. So that is why I cannot do it. World-class players, [who] block all the balls. It is really difficult. Atletico Madrid is doing it. Fine, whatever,
