Antonio Colak handed Rangers transfer 'proposal' with Malmo Champions League villain in line for Ibrox return

Rangers have made their move to land former Ibrox tormentor Antonio Colak, according to a report.

Greek outlet Sport 24 state that the Ibrox side have put forward "an official proposal" in an attempt to bring the 28-year-old PAOK striker to the Scottish Premiership. The club are said to be open to offers for the frontman who spent time on loan at Malmo, before returning to Greece at the end of the Swedish league campaign. He struggled to hold down a regular starting spot on his return to PAOK.

Colak will already be familiar to Rangers fans following his impressive display in the Champions League playoff at Ibrox. The Croatia international netted both goals in the crucial second leg in the third qualifying round. The striker would later share images of himself dancing and celebrating behind the scenes in the dressing room on social media that went viral, commenting as Malmo reached the playoff "You can’t describe this feeling".

He netted 21 goals last term, but only scored twice in Super League 1 after returning to parent club PAOK in January.

The report notes that three-times Croatia cap is not considered one of the main attacking options for Razvan Lucescu next season.

Gio van Bronckhorst will be weighing up his attacking options this summer with Alfredo Morelos approaching the end final year of his Ibrox contract.

Cedric Itten has already left the club this summer having failed to make his mark under the Dutchman, with Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala the remaining striking alternatives.

Joe Aribo had to deputise as the main frontman last season with options limiting following injuries to Roofe and Morelos.
