Anthony Martial told by club president Sevilla switch ‘didn’t work’ ahead of Man Utd return

Sevilla have confirmed they have no intention to sign Anthony Martial permanently from Manchester United after admitting their loan deal “didn’t work” out.

Martial was struggling for form in Manchester United during the first half of this season, so in January they sent him away to Sevilla on a six-month loan deal. However, his issues have merely continued in Spain.

It has therefore long been felt that Sevilla would not be looking to buy him on a permanent basis. That has now been confirmed by their club president, Jose Castro.

Castro said: “Anthony Martial will return to Man Utd.

“We spent important money on him but it didn’t work.

“Also, he had injuries and we’re not going to buy him on a permanent deal.”
