Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk 2: Tony Bellew outlines how AJ can win

With a rematch set against Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua has been told by Tony Bellew to station an annihilate mentality.

Joshua was defeated by the world champion back in September 2021 over a course of 12 rounds.

Prior to his scheduled rematch against the Ukrainian, AJ felt the need to change his coaching team.

The 32 year old Englishman has promoted his number two, Angel Fernandez, leaving Rob McCracken, his long-time cornerman.

He has also added Robert Garcia to his side in hopes of reviving an untamed AJ.

Tony Bellew told DAZN: “For me, the biggest factor going into this fight is what is AJ doing up here [points to head].

“It’s got to be a seek and destroy mentality, nothing else. Do not box a boxer. Drag him into a fight. Work to your strengths and weaknesses and use them to your advantage.”

In a match where the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles were on the line, the undisputed world cruiserweight champion came up on top knocking Bellew out in the eighth round.

The match dates back to 2018 but fear is still instilled in Tony’s mind to this day.

“I’m telling you, this guy is the best athlete the heavyweight division has ever seen. He’s the quickest, he’s the most powerful.

“You put this guy in a sprinting race, and he’ll smoke any heavyweight on the planet in a 100-meter sprint. You’ve got a certain type of skills that got you a heavyweight title. Don’t deter from them now. Go in there and use them to the best of your ability.

“If you fall short, so be it, but come up short knowing you’ve done everything you possibly could to win this fight.”

The rematch is expected to take place on 20 August 2022, at Saudi Arabia.
