Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois staggering prize payout and purse split after heavyweight clash

It was a night to remember under the Wembley Arch as Daniel Dubois sprung a huge surprise in the heavyweight division.

The 27-year-old defeated Anthony Joshua with a fifth round knockout win to retain his IBF World Heavyweight belt and firmly establish himself as one of the best in the world. Despite defeating 'AJ', Dubois would take home a much smaller purse from the fight compared to his fellow Brit.

According to Sporty Salaries, Joshua was guaranteed to take home £6million from the fight, potentially rising to as much as £25million depending on PPV sales. Despite winning the bout, Dubois is expected to earn at least £3.5million, potentially rising to up to £10million based on sales.

Dubois may have been the reigning IBF champion heading into the fight, but his payday was overshadowed by Joshua's due to the latter's larger draw in the boxing world. The exact pay out figures are yet to be confirmed, but if they are accurate, it will still be Dubois' biggest payday to date.

The fighter, who is promoted by Frank Warren, reportedly earned around £1.6m from his 2020 defeat to Joe Joyce, while his bout with Usyk last summer is said to have netted him approximately £1.5m, according to the Daily Record.

Dubois put on an impressive performance on Saturday night, asking the fans: “Are you not entertained?” after his knockout win. The Brit told TNT Sport he couldn't let the opportunity go after his triumph over Joshua.
