Barry Hearn drops Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua update - 'Plans to go bigger and outside Saudi'

Barry Hearn is confident that a blockbuster bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is on the horizon.

The two British heavyweights have carved out impressive careers, with Fury having claimed the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and WBC titles at various points following victories over top-tier opponents such as Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, and Tom Schwarz. Joshua, for his part, has secured all major heavyweight titles except the WBC, defeating Alexander Povetkin, Joseph Parker, and Andy Ruiz Jr, among others.

Despite their status as two of the most accomplished heavyweights of their era, Joshua and Fury are yet to clash in the ring, much to the frustrating of boxing fans. But Matchroom's Barry Hearn, speaking on Thursday's episode of The Barry Hearn Show, shared his belief that this much-anticipated fight could finally be in the offing.

He said: "Each fight has to be judged on its own merits. AJ and Fury will fight because his excellency, Turki Alalshikh, is committed to do their fight. This man is a boxing fanatic, by the way. The guy that's pumping in all these hundreds of millions into boxing in the Middle East - Saudi in particular - has got plans to go bigger and further outside Saudi.

"That's gonna be an interesting development because he brings with it the one thing that fighters love more than anything else - huge purses," reports the Mirror. "And he will be the one that will insist that this fight happens."
