Annan Athletic boss warns players to watch out of Elgin City backlash

Annan tackle Elgin at home tomorrow just weeks after inflicting a defeat on them.

But boss Peter Murphy warned his players to watch out for a backlash from the City side.

He said: “We got a good 2-0 win last month up at their place but they have been having intermittent results with a few draws, a very good win over Kelty Hearts then a few defeats. The win over Kelty was a big one for them and for the league to keep things going.

“So we have to be aware of them when they come to Galabank.”

Murphy added: “If we play as well as we can then we should be more than enough for them and we are playing at home as well.

“Funnily enough, I have just been going over the third quarter of the season’s results and at the start of the season our home form wasn’t the best.

“However, it has improved while our away form has been decent too so that has helped us.

“We beat Stranraer 4-1 last week and that is now eight goals in two games so things are going well and I am delighted with that.

“Plus it was exciting that we signed Scott Hooper and put him straight into the team and he has helped us with a lot of confidence.

“If there is anything I am disappointed with it is that we have not added clean sheets to our results”

The Galabankies have four injury doubts going into tomorrow’s home tussle with Elgin.

Front man Tony Wallace has a possible slight hamstring strain while the others in the doubtful category are: Chris Johnston, Roan Steele and Iain Anderson.
