Ange Postecoglou uses Celtic script at Tottenham as fans board Aussie hype train after Emerson 'masterclass'

It was a trademark of his time at Celtic - and now Ange Postecoglou has deployed some of his Parkhead tricks south of the border at Tottenham.

The Australian kicked off his tenure in the English Premier League with a 2-2 draw against Brentford. It was a typical Angeball clash full of attack-minded play, as Cristian Romero headed his team into a lead before being pegged back by Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa strikes. It was Emerson Royal's goal for Spurs in first half stoppage time that got punters talking on Postecoglou's tactics.

Greg Taylor was a key beneficiary of his choice to use inverted full-backs and Alistair Johnston revelled in the challenge during last season's second half. And the Brazilian made his way across the park and into a central position to fire home from outside the box. One called his display a 'masterclass' as fans get bowled over by the tactics their boss used at will at Celtic.

Another said: "The world is not ready for the Emerson Royal inverted full back era, this is his world now." One supporter was particularly full of affection, saying: "I don’t think my heart can handle the amount of joy Emerson excelling will bring me."

One observer called the approach "an intriguing tactical approach" while one suggested a market splurge with some Harry Kane cash. They said: "Spurs need to reinvest a decent part of that Kane fee in some inverted FBs."
