Kris Boyd and Andy Walker in Celtic refusal to agree as VAR application at St Mirren branded 'absurd'

Kris Boyd and Andy Walker were polar opposites in their anaylsis of Celtic VAR calls during their clash with St Mirren.

The first happened after three minutes when Andrew Dallas at Clydesdale House deemed Greg Taylor to have handled the ball inside the box, which led to Mark O'Hara converting for Saints. Charles Dunne then made a sloppy backpass and hauled down Kyogo as a consequence, but VAR again intervened to stop a penalty being handed to the Hoops, albeit the defender was still sent off.

Then Oh was hauled down inside the area in the second half and this time Dickinson did rule in favour the visitors, who went on to win 5-1 thanks to that penalty and goals from Jota, Alistair Johnston, Liel Abada and Matt O'Riley, restoring their nine-point gap at the top of the Premiership. Former Hoops man Walker was fuming with VAR's role in the game, telling Sky: "VAR can work but we have had the most absurd application of VAR.

"I was welcoming it at the start of the season and went to the presentation at the start of the season. It was very slick and professional but the application has been truly awful."

But Boyd was having none of it, and after the pair also had disagreements at half-time, the Rangers hero rounded off with: "Andy's not pleased with it! I don't think it has got one decision wrong, Andrew Dallas has done really well today."
