Ange Postecoglou's Celtic press conference in full as 'referee watch' question leaves boss groaning

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou rejected the narrative that favourable refereeing decisions handed his side the win against Livingston.

And he believes he's seen far more errors from his fellow managers than match officials this season.

The Hoops downed Livi 3-1 on Sunday with their first goal scored from a corner that should have instead been given as a goal kick.

They were also given a penalty, missed by Callum McGregor, while some including home manager David Martindale believed Tom Rogic handled the ball in the build-up to their second goal.

A second penalty shout for Celtic was also waved away by whistler Nick Walsh.

It all added up to another week of debate in Scottish football – an environment that puts so much focus on big refereeing calls we coined the phrase 'trial by Sportscene'.

Postecoglou has been taken aback by that attitude.

Asked if he felt Walsh and his crew missed some incidents that would have been in Celtic's favour, he groaned: "Look, I... as you know I don't get into that too much.

"It seems a lot of the analysis of games here are just more 'referee watch' than analysis of the actual game.

"Yeah, we got a corner we maybe shouldn't have but does that mean next time we don't get a corner that we should, that means we miss out on a goal?

"There are still a hell of a lot of things that need to happen for us to score from that resultant corner or throw-in."

Postecoglou, however, is happy for others in the game to focus on such matters instead of working on stopping his team – with Celtic top of the Premiership and facing a Monday night Scottish Cup quarter-final against Dundee United.
