Ange Postecoglou quits Celtic for Tottenham confirmed as he pens four year deal

Ange Postecoglou's Celtic exit has been confirmed as official – just days after claiming he hadn't had any conversations with Tottenham.

The Scottish champions’ search for the Greek-Aussie’s successor has now gone intro overdrive as they bid to remain Scotland’s pre-eminent force. Postecoglou has signed a four-year contract with the Premier League giants and will look to rebuild the London club and achieve success as he did with Celtic.

The 57-year-old makes the move south on the back of securing the Glasgow club’s world record eighth Treble, with his own trophy tally being remarkable in Scotland. He won five silverware out of six and with more than £50million in the bank and guaranteed Champions League football, the job is a now more attractive proposition than the one he inherited from Neil Lennon two years ago.

Postecoglou claimed last Thursday before completing the clean sweep last week he’d not had contact with Tottenham and neither had his agents. He even insisted he had not spoken to his agent about Tottenham. However, his appointment in North London has been ratified five days later with Postecoglou announced as Antonio Conte's successor at Tottenham Hotspur. It leaves the Hoops hierarchy searching for his successor ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. Celtic said in a statement to Stock Exchange: "Celtic PLC confirms that first team manager, Ange Postecoglou, will leave the club with immediate effect to take up the vacant managerial post at Tottenham Hotspur FC.

"The club would like to thank Ange for his outstanding contribution during his time at Celtic and wishes him success in the future. The process of appointing Celtic's next football manager is already underway, and an update will be communicated in due course."
