Ange Postecoglou in Celtic transfer admission as he expects Parkhead 'comings and goings' after filling squad gaps

Ange Postecoglou insists Celtic's summer recruitment has helped his squad strengthen as he looks to come back stronger this season. The Hoops boss admits that his side had areas in need of improvement, but reckons his transfer business has already helped to fill any voids he noticed last time out. But Celtic's summer business is unlikely to be over just yet as he reckons there will be both incomings and outgoings before the transfer window slams shut.

Celtic welcomed both Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz on Tuesday, taking their summer signing total to seven so far this summer. The duo join the Parkhead side as they gear up for Champions League group stage football. And on top of that, Postecoglou has his sights firmly set on keeping hold of the cinch Premiership title as he bolsters his squad in time fo the 2022/23 campaign kick off - which is just nine days away now.

Speaking to Sky Sports Scotland, Postecoglou said: "Ultimately the recruiting is about making us stronger. We’ve got to be stronger than last year, we’ve got to improve. We want to make sure the league is still our focus. We want to defend our title and to do that I think we have to be stronger and that is what our recruiting has been focused on.

“The gaps we had from last year, trying to fill those gaps and in general just making the squad a little but more robust than we were last year. We knew what we needed and part of that process was players like Jota and Cameron (Carter-Vickers) permanent members of our squad. It is not just because they were good last year, it is because we think they are a good investment for us. I think the best football is still ahead of them. Obviously they are still relatively young in age so it was important to get them back in.
