Ange Postecoglou hails Moritz Jenz Celtic debut goal but insists 'relentless' Hoops were never in danger

Ange Postecoglou hailed a match winning debut for new boy Moritz Jenz in Celtic 's 3-1 victory over Ross County.

The Hoops new boy was handed a first league start after Stephen Welsh was ruled out through injury. And the big German popped up to head Celtic back in front in the final ten minutes of the Premiership clash in Dingwall. Kyogo had fired the visitors into an early second half lead. But the old set piece weakness from last season resurfaced when Alex Iacovitti nodded home to restore parity for the Staggies.

But Jenz got himself on the scoresheet in front of a jubilant away end, getting on the end of a wonderful Jota cross following a short corner before Liel Abada made the points safe with an excellent third in stoppage time. It was a timely intervention with Rangers beating Kilmarnock at Ibrox as full-time approached, and Jenz’s contribution ensured the champions held on to top spot in the Premiership.

“It was great,” Postecoglou told BBC Scotland. “His overall performance was really good and he’s fitted in really well with the group. He’s training really and I was happy to give him his opportunity today. Him and Cam [Carter-Vickers] had a different type of game in that they didn’t get challenged too much defensively, but they had to really be on the ball when we had it.

“But it was great for him to get his goal. He’s really dominant in the air and hopefully that’s one of many.

“I don’t think we were frustrated at all. We were totally in control of the game and minimised their threat. They scored from a set piece and they're a big strong team, so that’s always a possibility.
