Ange earns 'love' from ex Liverpool star as he explains why Harry Kane departure is no big deal for Tottenham boss

Stephen Warnock believes Ange Postecoglou’s successful style throughout his managerial career means he can cope with the loss off Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.

The former Liverpool and England full back has been blown away by the former Celtic boss after he led Spurs to victory over Manchester United in his first home English Premier League game at the weekend. Sky Sports pundit Warnock reckons Postecoglou’s ‘Angeball’ philosophy meant the departure of Kane to Bayern Munich in a £100 million move wasn’t as big a blow as it might have been.

Warnock said: “I think 43 per cent of Tottenham’s goals came through Harry Kane last season. But he’s (Ange Postecoglou) won things without Harry Kane in his team so he knows his formula of what he does on the training ground, behind the scenes and the way he conducts himself with the players. That works. From his point of view he probably thought ‘I’d rather do it with Harry Kane in my team but if not I’ll find other ways’ and that’s a quality manager. Not moaning about what you haven’t got, but about what you’ve got. And also the window is still open so he’ll be actively looking for a striker who can add to it.

“I like him, I love his demeanour around the press and players and he comes across as the type of guy you want to play for and that’s a big thing when you walk into the changing room. When he was appointed Spurs manager, if you’re a football person and you’re in the game, you’d be excited by that appointment. He’d have excited the Spurs players who were still at the football club.
