Andy Robertson's Liverpool return timeline as skipper should be fighting fit for Scotland Euro 2024 warm ups

Andy Robertson is expected to make his Liverpool return in the New Year.

The left back has been out of action since mid-October due to a dislocated shoulder. That meant the Scotland skipper had to sit out the final two Euro 2024 qualifiers for his country, but did so safe in the knowledge he'd be on the plane to Germany in the summer after qualification was secured with a couple of games to spare.

Now he's set to be fighting fit for Steve Clarke's final warm up games. Friendlies against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland have been scheduled as the national team boss fine tunes his preparations for the tournament, in which the Scots having a starring role on the opening night when we take on the hosts in Munich. Then it's on to Cologne to face Switzerland before wrapping up the group stage against Hungary in Stuttgart.

Robertson will be well up to speed if reports on his progress are correct. The Mail claim he'll be back playing for Jurgen Klopp in January, which is good timing with the Reds slap bang in the middle of a title tilt.

They came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at the weekend. Harvey Elliott's stoppage time strike sent the Reds top of the table on Saturday lunchtime, and they stayed there after Arsenal lost 1-0 at Aston Villa, with Robertson's Scotland teammate John McGinn getting himself on the scoresheet.
