Andy Robertson reveals his Celtic Champions League dream that remains amid Liverpool hope

Forward-thinking Andy Robertson admitted he would love to fulfil a lifelong ambition by taking on Celtic in next season’s Champions League.

The Scotland captain, who is preparing for Saturday’s final against Real Madrid, admitted it has been a dream to play in the competition for his boyhood heroes at Celtic Park and now he would love a crack at them with Liverpool.

Robertson was previously a ball boy for Champions League games when he was coming through the youth ranks before he was released and made his alternative route to the top with the Reds.

Robertson, speaking to BBC Sport, said: "Well look, as a young boy, my dream was to play Champions League football at Celtic Park.

“I wanted to be in a green and white jersey, now being at such a massive club like Liverpool then I think I would enjoy it.

“Obviously, I’ve been there as a fan, done ball boy games for Celtic in the Champions League. The atmosphere is incredible, very similar to Anfield.

“I’d love the rest of the boys in there (the Liverpool dressing room) to experience it as well.

“Obviously, that’s not until next season but if we did get them then it would be an occasion I would look forward to.”

Celtic go directly into the Champions League group stages after winning the Premiership.
