Andy Murray says he’ll offer Emma Raducanu advice if she wants his help

British tennis legend Andy Murray says he’d be happy to chat to Emma Raducanu about coping with injuries if she wanted his advice. 

Raducanu stunned the world when she became the first qualifier to ever win a Grand Slam at the US Open last year, but the Brit has been plagued with physical problems ever since. 

At the Australian Open in January, Raducanu suffered blisters on her hand, which heavily contributed to her loss against Danka Kovinic in the second round. 

After a three week break, the British number one returned to action on Wednesday in the Guadalajara Open, but was forced to retire against Australia’s Daria Saville in the third set because of a left hip injury. 

The contest itself had lasted three hours and 36 minutes before Raducanu’s retirement –– making it the longest WTA match of this year so far. 

It marked yet another disappointing tournament for the world number 12, who was seeded first for the event. 

Questions have also been raised over the Brit’s persistent injury problems of late and whether there is reason to be concerned. 

Like Raducanu, Murray also contended with multiple physical problems early in his career but has gone on to become a three-time major winner, two-time Olympic champion and is a former world number one. 

The two-time Wimbledon champion stressed that he’d be more than willing to speak with the teenager but only if she wanted his help. 

“I don’t think that I’m necessarily the right person to be giving advice on those things,” he said.

“She has her team that she’s working with, that she will trust to help her through those moments.
