Andy Fisher reveals a big reason why he wanted to leave MK Dons for Swansea City
Swansea City goalkeeper Andy Fisher has said Swansea City could ‘destroy’ teams once things click under head coach Russell Martin.
The 24-year-old stopper joined the Swans in January from MK Dons, where he had previously played under Martin.
This makes Fisher well-placed to assess Swansea’s progress under their head coach, and despite currently being 16th in the Championship, he believes they have a bright future.
“I think, as a squad, we’re still learning the style,” Fisher told the Swansea club website.
“But I’ve been through this process before and when it clicks, it clicks.
“It’s a nice way to play and it can destroy teams.”
Fisher enjoyed his time under the 36-year-old in Milton Keynes and says he even took a pay cut to join MK Dons because he believed so much in Martin’s methods.
“He took me on loan from Blackburn first,” Fisher explained.
“I took a big wage cut to go and play for him at MK Dons because I believed in everything he did and the way he played.
“The manager was a massive part of the reason I wanted to move here.”

Fisher has made six appearances for Swansea so far, keeping two clean sheets in those matches.
The 24-year-old says that being familiar with the coaching staff has allowed him to settle, but that everyone at Swansea have been ‘top’.
“I’m into my second month here and I’ve settled in really well,” Fisher said.
“I know a lot of the staff from MK Dons, but the new staff and the players have been top.
Swansea face Coventry City in the Championship on Saturday where Fisher will be aiming to keep his third clean sheet for the Swans.
The Verdict
Having played so frequently under Russell Martin, there aren’t many better placed to discuss Swansea’s progress under their head coach.
