Andrew Moran called up to Republic of Ireland senior squad

Andrew Moran has been called up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad due to injury concerns ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifier with Netherlands and friendly with New Zealand.

Jamie McGrath and Evan Ferguson are just some of the injury worries, with no official comment on the overall fitness of the squad chosen last week.

Ireland's training camp begins today ahead of Saturday's final qualifier in Amsterdam.

In a social media update, the FAI said: "As we await scan results on a number of players, Andrew Moran has been called up to the senior squad and will train with the squad today."

Moran had been set to feature for crucial Under-21 qualifiers for Ireland against Norway and Italy.

The Brighton player, who has shone on loan for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, had been due to make his senior bow in the last window against Gibraltar, only for injury to curtail that plan.

The FAI are likely to issue further updates later today, with Stephen Kenny due to hold a press conference at 1.30pm.
