Amir Khan vs Kell Brook: Adam and Hassan Azim out to steal the show on undercard

Boxing brothers Adam and Hassan Azim both look like they are enjoying themselves.

Terence Crawford stands a few metres away from them but he is not the centre of attention.

Instead they watch as Amir Khan and Kell Brook speak to the media for the final time before their fight on Saturday night.

Every now and then their eyes shift to the other, but for the most part they stay focused on Khan, near enough hanging on his every word.

“I’m still pretty new to all of this so I wanted to see how they do it as I’m trying to gain as much experience as I can,” Hassan says.

“I know one day we’ll be up there as well.”

Like many other young British Pakistanis, Adam and Hassan, 19 and 21 respectively, are also inspired by Khan, and are hoping to follow in the footsteps of the former unified super-lightweight world champion.

Hassan (1-0, 1 KO) will fight MJ Hall on the undercard this evening, before Adam (2-0, 1 KO) looks to improve his record against Jordan Ellison later tonight.

Adam adds: “They’ve both been trying to make this fight for quite some time, it’s one of the biggest fights in England, never mind one of the biggest fights here as well.

“Obviously, they both know how to entertain the crowd, and that’s a big motivation for us going into Saturday.

“We want to put on a show for people to remember for years to come.”

Hailing from Slough, Berkshire, the two brothers are trained by Shane McGuigan in Battersea, London.

McGuigan, the son of Irish boxing legend Barry, is regarded as one of the best and most consistent trainers in the game with a deep stable of fighters including Daniel Dubois, Anthony Fowler and Lawrence Okolie.

Hassan chuckles. “We’re still not quite sure how he does it all to be honest with you,” he says.
