American International Striker Sebastian Soto speaks out about the club's chances against Motherwell this weekend

Sebastian Soto admitted the Lions can’t let refereeing decisions derail their hopes of a top six berth after their defeat to St Johnstone.

The American ace was making his first start for Livi since arriving at the club on loan from Norwich City in the January transfer window and saw an early effort smartly saved by Zander Clark.

Whilst confessing Kevin Clancy’s decisions had a huge impact on the outcome in Perth, the striker says it’s now all about picking up the points against Motherwell and giving themselves the best chance of sneaking back into the top half of the table.

He commented: “It’s frustrating. A lot of decisions didn’t go our way but we just have to keep our heads up. I went up to the referee at the end and said ‘you surely have seen it’ and his explanation was that he couldn’t give it because the player slipped over.

“Something like that can really dictate your place with the tightness of the table. It was poor, to say the least. It’s a penalty, 100 per cent.

“The loss feels unbearable but that’s football.”

He added: “We shouldn’t have lost that game, we really shouldn’t have. Next week is a cup final for us and we need to walk in there with nothing to lose. We just need to win. Prepare, recover and go for it next week.”
