American golfers should be getting paid MORE to play in the Ryder Cup instead of being painted as greedy guts

Those greedy American golfers. They are at it again. They are after more money, the shame of it.

These millionaires are at it – they are stealing the soul of the game… Jeez, there’s been some amount of bed wetting with this decision to pay the Yankee swingers for turning up at the Ryder Cup. It’s sacrilegious, blasphemous, a downright disgrace. They already are swimming in cash and they should be involved in the competition for their love of the game and their patriotic pride.

Give us peace. The American team is now going to get a $200,000 stipend – which sounds like a fancy word for payment – plus another 300k to give to a charity of their choice. It’s not entirely new as they’ve had 200,000 bucks handed out on their behalf to their personal good causes since a minor stink back in 1999.

But according to plenty in the golf world, this move is the final straw. An act of sheer greed by a group of folk who have lost the plot in their pursuit of more lolly.

Hold on a wee minute here. These are the actual guys who are playing in the event – and it’s a competition that makes an absolute fortune. It’s amazing they are not demanding more dosh. Yes, it’s a pure competition with national and continental pride at stake.

But it’s also big business. And why shouldn’t the people who provide the drama after years of blood, sweat and tears to get there, not be rewarded for it?

If the cash brought in from the Ryder Cup was only going to feed the poor or whatever than fair enough, the tartan trews mob should be slaughtered.

But it’s not. On our side of the pond, the Ryder Cup plays a huge part in keeping the European Tour – now the DP World Tour – afloat. And most of the guys on that team know without that pathway they probably wouldn’t
