Amazon shopper orders iPad online but gets something unexpected instead

A person ordered an iPad from Amazon but unexpectedly received something else entirely.

Posting on Reddit, they said when the order arrived they opened it to find two packs of dog food instead. Amazon issued a refund but the iPad ‘never arrived’.

The person was worried they wouldn’t get a refund as they didn’t receive the iPad and had heard ‘horror stories’ about Amazon. Luckily, they did get their money back after waiting just over a week.

In the BritishSuccess group on Reddit the user explained: “I ordered an iPad from Amazon and when I opened it, it was two packs of dog food. I rang them and they said I should send it back and I’d get a refund.

“Of course I’ve read the horror stories of Amazon denying a refund and having a long drawn out battle for it in this situation. But I got the notification this morning that they are refunding. It only took two phone calls and nine days.”

Amazon’s website states that most items can be returned within 30 days from when you bought them and refunds “vary depending on how and when the item was bought and the condition of the item.” Other Reddit users who saw the post left comments about their own experiences with Amazon and some gave advice.

One said: “Same thing happened to me re ordering an iPad from Amazon except I got sent an alarm clock instead. I recommend taking a video of opening the parcel for any large value items received via delivery. I offered to send them the video but Amazon didn’t want it and refunded me about 9 days later too.”

Another user commented: “Sorry to be a downer, just don't celebrate until you have the money in your account. I too fell victim to this scam last year when I bought my parents a new phone each. I got fly tape instead.
