Amad Diallo FA Cup red sparks rule change demand from Man United as Liverpool hero told to 'enjoy moment'

Bruno Fernandes reckons Amad Diallo should enjoy his big Manchester United moment and called on the rules of the game to change.

The former Rangers loanee struggled to make his mark at Ibrox under former boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst but found his top form during a spell at Sunderland in the English Championship last season - scooping individual rewards and also making himself a fans' favourite. His lack of opportunity at the Red Devils had fans desperate for him to return to the Stadium of Light but he came up trumps for Erik ten Hag to score against Liverpool in an FA Cup thriller to book a semi-final spot.

The young attacker slotted home on the counter-attack right at the end of extra-time with the game destined for penalties to spark wild celebrations in Old Trafford but after picking up a yellow with four minutes of the additional 30 still to be played he was ordered off after removing his shirt as part of his celebration. Fernandes was delighted for his pal who got the reward he deserved for his efforts behind the scenes as he excused him over his red card admitting "it is part of the moment and part of being young."

He said: "He got his reward because he's doing the right things. He deserves it. Unfortunately, he got sent off, but it's part of the moment and part of being young.

"This moment has to be enjoyed and I think it's one of the rules football has to change because you should be able to celebrate the goal, obviously with respect to other clubs, to enjoy your moment."

On drawing Championship side Coventry City in the semi-final, he added: "Obviously we're playing a Championship team and not a Premier League team, but Wolves went out against them.
