Lu reports that Adams received a second injection of hyaluronic acid, which serves as a joint lubricant, but the injury has not responded as hoped.
Adams has not attempted a pass since Week 4 with Trevor Harris seeing the majority of the time under centre since.
In five games so far this season, Adams has 294 passing yards and one touchdown compared to two interceptions.
The Als (2-5) will kick off Week 9 against the undefeated Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Montreal Thursday evening.
