Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has given an emphatic verdict on Harry Maguire’s captaincy at Manchester United, insisting Cristiano Ronaldo should instead have the armband.

There have been questions over Maguire’s role as United captain throughout the season. The England international has endured a poor campaign at the heart of the United defence, leading to calls from supporters for him to be stripped of the armband.

His cause has not been helped by the return of Ronaldo to Old Trafford last summer, prompting some to claim the 37-year-old should be given the captaincy instead. Gary Lineker has mocked United after their Premier League defeat to Everton on Saturday afternoon.
