Ally McCoist reignites Chris Sutton Rangers lockout debate but Celtic hero bites back with Aaron Ramsey jibe

Ally McCoist goaded Chris Sutton over his Ibrox lockout incident back in November - asking the Celtic hero if he'd be buying a ticket to get into Sunday's derby.

But Sutton was soon at it himself when he sarcastically branded Aaron Ramsey "the new Gascoigne," after his struggles to make his mark at Rangers.

The two well-known pundits are regular sparring partners on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra and their good-natured jousting has hit fever-pitch ahead of Sunday's massive derby.

It's a title six-pointer with Sutton's old team hoping to go six clear while Rangers are determined to claw it back to be level on points.

Sutton hasn't been to Ibrox since he was shut out from punditry duties back in November though with the Govan club citing safety concerns.

And McCoist kicked off the show by asking him if he'd be buying an away ticket to get into the game.

The Englishman was ready for him though as he responded: "Listen, I might not be popular with the Rangers board, but the rest don't even like the Rangers board at this moment in time.

"Even their own fans have turned on them!"

And McCoist quipped back: "He's firing on all cylinders and it's amazing to think he's not even in the 700 most-liked Celtic fans that can travel to Ibrox.

"I thought to myself surely the Celtic supporters like him enough to get him a ticket, but apparently not."

The theme then changed to their predicted XIs and McCoist backed Ramsey to start.

The on-loan Juventus midfielder has struggled to make his mark due to injuries so far and Sutton took aim at the hype around the signing by asking: "Is the new Gazza ready?"

But McCoist, who named Ramsey in his starting team ahead of Glen Kamara, blew straight past the barb.
