Ally McCoist and Chris Sutton refused Rangers vs Celtic TV in-your-face filming as Hoops hero 'never' celebrates on the job

Chris Sutton has revealed he and Rangers icon Ally McCoist refused to be filmed during the Viaplay Cup Final.

The broadcasting pair brought Viaplay's coverage of the League Cup Final to life in February this year when Kyogo Furuhashi hit rivals Rangers for a double despite a late Alfredo Morelos flurry to hand Ange Postecoglou a domestic trophy on his way to a Treble. It was a titanic tussle between Glasgow's big two with Sutton and McCoist providing the familiar dulcet tones for the game. But Record Sport columnist Sutton admits the duo were asked if the commentary box, alongside Rory Hamilton, could be filmed a la the style of Sky Sports for Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher and former Manchester United man Gary Neville.

But Sutton insists he and Ally did not feel 'comfortable' doing so, and said it takes away from the role of colour commentator by giving that detailed inside look. The Celtic hero also admits it wouldn't have made for great viewing, due to the fact he refuses to celebrate when his beloved Hoops score while on commentary duties.

He told the Mail Online's It's Coming Up podcast: "I was actually asked if I could be find for the Scottish League Cup final, alongside Ally McCoist and we both said we would feel uncomfortable doing that. My role as a summariser is to go in and see the game as I see it and give an honest view. I do not celebrate. I was at Ibrox at the weekend, I do not celebrate when Celtic score. I have never celebrated when Celtic score when I'm in a commentary box. I don't think that's the right thing for me to do.
